My Sewing Journey Part 1

8/6/2013

Comments

I come from a rich heritage of individuals who sew.
My grandmothers were seamstress and one of my grandfathers a tailor.
My mom did some of her own sewing and other hand crafts.
So I'd say that my gift for sewing was inborn..

As a teenager during summer holidays my mom would teach me some of the various crafts such as knitting and crocheting.
At secondary school I had learn different sewing stitches in my needlework class....which I had always enjoyed.

In 2009, I bought a sewing book in the Logos Ship which came to our country.
This book taught some basic sewing skills & techniques.
After all, I was able to learn how to smock a dress...a technique which my mom was teaching me.

My Grandmother stitched up my dress for me.....and I was definitely proud to wear it.

In 2011, I was able to purchase my sewing machines and my....was I happy.
So I made some simple dresses....(using some common sense), I over-stitched/ overcast cloth to make table towels,  made curtains and other handy items.

I also research on the internet & was able to make handbags and purses, some of which are shown in the slide above.

I continue my sewing journey in a follow-up post.

    Welcome to Magnola's space.
    A display of creativity.

    I love fashion.

Creating and making new items from cloth.

I love Jesus and I seek to be modest in my fashion design/creations so that you can see Jesus through my creations & you will want to live for Jesus too.

Hope that you will enjoy my blogs.
