Comments

A few weeks ago, as I prepared to go to work. I decided I want to make something 'now for now' to wear. So I got my fabric from my fabric stash and after 10 minutes I had a new top to wear to work.
This started Magnola #DIY #Batwing Top.
I will teach you how to make your own (DIY) Batwing Top with your own measurements.

To everything: there's a time.

I have been absent from blogging but I hope to step up in the coming days...once I can.
Last summer (2014) has been a different kind of summer break for me. I did not sew.
I guess that's where the saying comes in "To everything there's a time"

In July, one of my great-aunts died & in August one of my aunts died. These were two beloved individuals who I've know all my life & loved dearly.
However, the Lord continues to add to our family.
We are extremely grateful for His continuous blessings & mercies in our lives.

In concluding this post, I want to share with you a conversation I had with my late aunt. CLick this link:http://www.chronicles101.info/home/chronicles101-6-miscarriages-2-children I hope that it blesses you.

Wedding Bells......Wedding Dresses

In 2012, I made my wedding dress for my wedding.....this was a great accomplishment.

Reasons being:
  1. It was my first project of this kind.
  2. It was a test of boldness to do something I've never done.

3.  To boost my self confidence and self esteem in my sewing hobby.

4.  For the fun of it.

One year later, I look back and I am humbled to realize that with the help, direction and wisdom from God, and others I was able to accomplish the task of making my first wedding dress.

Now as I seek to complete my second wedding dress project, I look forward with great anticipation for its results.

Here's a mini-view of the back of the dress - corset styled.

My Sewing Journey Part 1

I come from a rich heritage of individuals who sew.
My grandmothers were seamstress and one of my grandfathers a tailor.
My mom did some of her own sewing and other hand crafts.
So I'd say that my gift for sewing was inborn..

As a teenager during summer holidays my mom would teach me some of the various crafts such as knitting and crocheting.
At secondary school I had learn different sewing stitches in my needlework class....which I had always enjoyed.

In 2009, I bought a sewing book in the Logos Ship which came to our country.
This book taught some basic sewing skills & techniques.
After all, I was able to learn how to smock a dress...a technique which my mom was teaching me.

My Grandmother stitched up my dress for me.....and I was definitely proud to wear it.
